For more than a decade, the Gopher has stood as a true staple of Minnesota’s sports culture. From lacrosse fields to hockey rinks, it has represented not only the growth of the game but also the values that define who we are.
At the Minnesota Athletic Club (MAC), the Gopher is more than a logo it’s a legacy. It symbolizes the athletes who put in the work, the teams who compete with pride, and the community that rallies behind them.
Every time the Gopher takes the field or the ice, it carries with it the principles we stand for.

The Gopher Story
The Gopher has always been at the heart of our identity, a symbol that carries deep roots from the University of Minnesota Gophers Lacrosse program. What began on those fields grew into the Minnesota Lacrosse Club, and later expanded into today’s Minnesota Athletic Club home for the multi-sport athlete. Through every step, the Gopher has remained tried and true.
In 2013, we embraced a rebrand that honored our history while looking forward to the future. A new Gopher design was introduced, keeping the classic maroon and gold color palette that connected us to our lacrosse roots at the University of Minnesota. This updated mark made its official debut in 2015, replacing the original Minnesota Lacrosse Club logo.
The first true showcase came in 2016, emblazoned on the newly streamlined Cascade R helmet design released in 2015. That moment wasn’t just about a logoit was about a partnership. Cascade has been with us every step of the way, and to this day, our athletes continue to wear athletic gold helmets proudly, refreshed with updated decals and design elements that match the energy of each new generation.
As the Minnesota Athletic Club grew, so did the Gopher. In recent years, we evolved the brand once again retiring maroon from the palette and embracing a bold black and gold identity. This shift represents both strength and modernity, reflecting the Club’s commitment to excellence across all sports.
Today, the Gopher is stronger than ever. It’s more than a logo it’s a legacy. It represents decades of competition, community, and commitment to building athletes who thrive not only on the field, but also as part of a broader Minnesota tradition.
